Building Bridges Tour: turning global solidarity into practical change

This October, AVSI-USA will embark on the Building Bridges: Friendship Beyond Borders Tour, an opportunity to bring the reality of our work in the field directly to the friends and supporters who make it possible.

Last year, during the U.S. government funding crisis, many donors stepped forward to support AVSI-USA out of affection for our mission and a belief in the importance of accompanying vulnerable communities around the world. This year, in gratitude for their generosity and friendship, we want to bring a piece of that mission to them by sharing firsthand stories of impact and hope.

For this reason, we have invited Socorro Del Rio, Director of Crecemos, one of AVSI-USA’s long-standing partners, to join us on the tour. For more than 20 years, Socorro has worked alongside AVSI-USA to create opportunities for families and communities facing poverty and marginalization. Through her experience, supporters will be able to see firsthand how their generosity has transformed lives and strengthened communities.

At the heart of AVSI-USA’s mission is the desire to serve as a bridge between the American public and communities across the globe. One of the principal ways we do this is through the Opportunity Program, which invites donors to invest in the long-term work of AVSI’s local partners and witness the impact of their generosity firsthand.

Crecemos is one of the partners that best exemplifies this approach. Through programs focused on education, nutrition, economic development, and family support, Crecemos promotes human dignity and builds resilience by creating opportunities for people to thrive within their own communities. Its work demonstrates how sustainable, locally led development can empower individuals, strengthen families, and foster lasting change.

The Building Bridges: Friendship Beyond Borders Tour will take us to Washington, DC, New York, Boston, Columbus, Cincinnati, Evansville, and Phoenix, offering opportunities to connect with friends, supporters, and partners across the country.
