HAITI

our story

AVSI began operations in Haiti in 1999 and became a registered local entity with the Haitian government in 2005 with most of its presence in Les Cayes, Cap-Haitian, and Port-au-Prince.

AVSI supports programs in the sectors of education/child protection, health with an emphasis on food security and nutrition, agriculture, water, reforestation, and environment, as well as artisan workshops and business development. In partnership with the Haitian government, AVSI provides technical support for projects in the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of the Environment.

Today, AVSI partners with vulnerable communities across the country through a comprehensive family-centered approach that enables capacity building at all levels: families, local community-based partners, and local government systems.
