HAITI
our story
AVSI began operations in Haiti in 1999 and became a registered local entity with the Haitian government in 2005 with most of its presence in Les Cayes, Cap-Haitien and Port-au-Prince.
AVSI supports programs in the sectors of education/child protection, health with an emphasis on food security and nutrition, agriculture, water, reforestation and environment as well as artisan workshops and business development. As a partner of the government, AVSI gives technical support for projects in the Social Affairs Ministry and the Environmental Ministry.
Today, AVSI partners with vulnerable communities across the country through a comprehensive family-centered approach that enables capacity building at all levels: families, local community-based partners, and local government systems.
