AVSI-USA Internship Opportunities

SUMMER 2024

AVSI-USA is excited to offer dynamic internship opportunities for both high school and university students during the summer of 2024. These roles are designed for students or recent graduates eager to gain hands-on experience in the non-profit sector, with a focus on international development and humanitarian aid.

Internship for High School Students

Location/Hours: Silver Spring, MD (Hybrid: 1 day in-office, 2 days remote) 

 
Eligibility: Incoming juniors to graduated seniors of high school as of June 2024 

 
Overview: Dive into a rewarding summer internship at AVSI-USA, where we tailor experiences to bridge your academic knowledge with our real-world nonprofit operational needs. Available internship tracks include: 

  • Business Development: Assist in identifying new funding opportunities and managing donor cycles. 
  • Communications: Develop and curate content for our digital platforms, including social media and newsletters. 
  • Administrative & Donor Relations: Support in executing fundraising strategies and maintaining donor communications. 

Internship for College and Graduate Students

Location/Hours: Silver Spring, MD (Hybrid schedule to be agreed upon, 15-30 hours per week, 9 AM – 5 PM) 

Eligibility: Open to incoming freshmen through graduated seniors in college, including graduate students. Preferred fields: International Development, International Relations, Humanitarian Assistance, Communication. 

Overview: This position perfectly suits individuals eager to expand their knowledge and expertise in international development. As an intern, you will play a vital role in our significant projects, developing practical skills in a professional nonprofit environment. We offer a variety of internship tracks and are flexible in tailoring these to align with your interests and experience. 

  • Communications: Take charge of managing and creating content across various platforms and assist in event promotions. 
  • Donor Relations/Business Development: Engage in proposal development and funding strategies for initiatives supported by USAID and other agencies.
